Cyanotype is a photographic process that involves laying objects (in this case, hand-picked and dried flowers) on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light. The process is magical to watch and results in these beautiful Prussian blue exposures.

The idea was to create Midsummer artwork for altar cards and gifts for the Solstice festival and women's circle. I collected flowers, leaves and branches from summer walks in the woodlands and fields and experimented with drying methods, composition and exposures to create these pieces. Once created they were also scanned and edited for future use in other surface design.
